Finally Rag ends and it ends beautifully and perfectly. Yesterday, 6th august 05, will forever etched in my memory. Our Midway Fair dazzled all their visitors. It is my baby; sheares hall raggers baby. How can it not be? It's like watching your own child brings glory to you. All the cuts, wounds, bruises, blodd and sweat are totally worth it; every single of it.
I really thank God for putting me in this wonderful team. Thank God for helping us and blessing us all the way. My prayer is answered and our Midway Fair come true. God is really good and faithful and He loves me so deeply~!
THE day started at 330 when we escorted out float to SRC. Engineers and designers and some other subcomms people followed behind. We parked our float in the static display box. Next was the first briefing for first touch up. Many was tired and sleepy. I was too. But, my optimism won over. I stayed awake. Eyes wide open and was listening carefully at Stan and WK.
First touch up was like going for war. WK was shouting orders on who should go in and who should come out. We tried our best not to get demeritted by our two pretty validators. Our brain can do wonderful things. It always pushes boundaries. All of us didn't sleep at all yet we were very alert and completed all the touch up on time. Then, there was the briefing for 2nd and final touch up after pre-judging. This time we just chop chop took out whatever things that hindered the way. I was really worried for the bird. It looked so tilted that it gonna give way anytime. Well, it didn't disappoint me. The bird stayed upright..hahha
I went off the YIH for a while and have to run back coz JK said we were only 2 halls behind. So anyway, the float were moving. Sun was up high and threateningly hot. We saw the so called sea of orange. More like pond of orange. Okay..so they don't wanna come and give us support. Nevermind, we support ourselves. Presentation, the 5 minutes where we give our very best. Everyone Tried. I failed on my 1st 3 dongs. The bird was so heavy I can't even pushed it. When I did, it went over the stopper and it stuck. I tried to synchronise with the music, it took me the later 2 dongs. Finally, from the 4rd dong onwards I did it. Phew....I was very disappointed initially. But, what's the point. The presentation is over. We were rejoicing and WK was crying. I did feel guilty. it's like I let my team down. But, they say nevermind. I love my engineers. =)
We are truly the best engineers now with the award best float. VIce Chancellor shield~!!!
The dance was amazing, filled with zest and life.
Afterwards we relac one corner and wait for result. I felled detached for a while as I watched Shearites admiring the float.
The result time. Bla bla bla..then..."shield for best float design..the winner is ...................Sheares Hall!" Practically everyone jump up in joy~!We won the 1st important award. Tears of joy streamed down. People were crying and laughing and hugging each other. Next, best presentation..Sheares Hall again. Best dance hall..Sheares hall. And the moment is here. Best float a.k.a Vice-chancellor shield...Sheares hall~! Can u imagine our exhillaration?Can you picture our ecstacy?Can you feel our emotion as we laugh and cry? We are once again the Rag hall. We got back what we deserved. Then came another piece of good news. The chingay committee thinks our float is good enough to be in Chingay. We may be in it~!!!Cool~!
What a day. I love my team and I thank God for loving me and put me into this team.
