Wednesday, 22nd march 06 - One of the laboratory in NuS Fac of Science was reduced to ashes as fire broke out during one of the many practical sessions held there. According to eye witnesses, fire was originated from bench 4. At about 16oo hours, students were required to conduct part of the experiment series aseptically (with lighted bunsen burner in vicinity to keep the surrounding as sterile as possible). Apparently, a pair of students who got so frustated with the whole experiment, forgot to keep the lighted bunsen burner away from fire hazard materials. The fact that time is running out and they may have to repeat the bulk of the experiment process make them momentarily forgot about the open fire. Fire spread quickly and in no time the whole laboratory was reduced to charred room filled with ashes. Police classified this as accident and the university decided not to look into the matter further.
