In Whom I can trust

You are the Lord in whom I can trust
Ypu are the Rock I can stand upon
Every step of the way
You take my hand and say
You will always be here right beside me
When I call on You I know You come to me

You are my Lord
in Whom I can trust
You are my fotress
You're my Deliverer
My shield, my strength
For all of my days
My hope is in You Jesus
You loved me with Your life
The Rock of my Salvation
in Whom I can trust.

After practising this song in choir, I came upon this verse as I read Joyce Meyer's book.

John 16:33
I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]

The Lord never says, life will be smooth sailing and easy and without challenges. Even in the verse He said "you have tribulation...". But, we were equipped with perfect peace and confidence from Jesus that we will be above the situation and not trampled and crushed by the circumstances we are facing. That is the joy, courage and perseverance we see in some who seem to super "unlucky" yet they never even once complain and succumb to the situation.
It is easy to succumb and act according to how one feel. I am one who tend to act according to how I feel. When I am uncomfortable in a crowd, I will try my best to escape to get "some fresh air". When I felt left out in a group or sense that I am not accepted in the group, I'll leave them and feel super lousy after that. The Lord has been gracious and merciful to me. He showed me that I am a sensitive person and told me that it is one thing to feel and another thing to act. Our feeling may not be right all the time. At least that's the case for me. God told us to "be confident" and not "feel confident". We may feel lousy at some days. We may feel discourage and unwanted at other days. But, how we respond to these feeling is of utmost importance. I am still learning to be confident despite feeling all tangled up inside. It's not self delusional or self deception coz my confidence is in my Lord Jesus Christ. He is able therefore I am able. Not because of what and who I am but because of who He is and what He has done for us. Just like the lyrics above, He has loved us with His life. That is how precious every single two legged creature in this earth that we called human.
