Ecclesiastes 2:11 NIV: Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.

Sad isn't it? We thought all we ever wanted are great career, superb house/flat/condo, luxurious car (preferably more than one), holidays, etc etc. After gaining all these earthly wealth, what's next?

The author of Ecclesiastes knew what he was talking about. He was probably the wealthiest person on earth. Even today, he is still the wealthiest; far wealthier than Bill Gates, Donald Trump, or even the Sultan of Brunei. Don't believe? Check National Geographic for a summary of his wealth. He is none other than King Solomon, the wisest man after Jesus Christ.

Too often we chased after things that seemed more pressing than chasing God. Too many times we neglected the very thing that caused us to be alive. We forgot who we are, human whose frames are from dust yet so deeply loved by Father God in heaven. 24 hours a day and how many hours are set aside to keep God company? To praise Him, worship Him, sit at His feet and let Him lavish us with His love. I for one am guilty of such. So many distraction and too many times I complained that there's not enough time! Like a babe who is learning to walk, I keep on falling behind. But the Lord is always good and patience with me. He catch me when I fall. He lead me with His gentle hand. When I start searching for other worldly things, He gently whispered to my heart and slowly guide me back to the path of righteousness. Freedom, love and provisions can be found in this narrow path that has been planned for me even before my existence.

Pastor once said, a goat is smart and independence, but he tends to fall of the cliff and die because he thinks he is smart enough to choose his own path. A sheep is dumb and dependence. But, he recognizes the Shepherd's voice and follow Him. The Shepherd will lie him down among the green grass which is the sheep's food and lead him to water sources for drinks. The Shepherd will tend to him when he is injured. And when the sheep is lost, the Shepherd will leave the rest of His flock to look for this lost sheep. When He found the lost sheep, He heads back to the village, calls His neighbors and friends for celebration. Coz the Shepherd has finally found that lost sheep.

I choose to be the dumb dependent sheep. My Lord is My Shepherd and I shall not want.
