Cocooned in this little island called Singapore, I was almost oblivious of the happenings around the world. When was the last time I touched a newspaper without going through the classified first? When was the last time I watch the evening news? My thoughts and words revolved around job prospects, and interviews. How tiny my world has become. I have feared for such insignificant things compared to my counterparts in the other side of the world. Shame on me.
What has the world become? "We have 7 years from now to curb the disastrous effect of global warming". And we are so half-heartedly trying to make the slightest effort. Some don't even bother. Look at those paper=burning folks at your HDB void decks. Not only polluting the environment, they are burning their own money for the sake of some superstitious belief. Continue to elevate the status of evil spirits and they will make sure you are NOT free of haunting. Foolish ones, when will we open our eyes?
People become mere statistics. "10,000 died in the flood/typhoon/tsunamis/earthquakes that struck the island". People blowing up themselves, taking others with them for the sake of religion. They seem so distant to the point of unreal. What are evening/morning news but a portal for bad news from around the world. Do we even have a future? Middle east is like an active giant volcano that threatened to erupt as and when it likes. Wars and rumours of wars are unceasing. 30 to 50 wars are currently ongoing in the world - excluding those that are currently brewing. Is this the future we want?
Believers have a hope in Jesus Christ. Those believe in Jesus Christ SOLELY have a place in eternity. What about the others? I don't know. One thing for sure, they will go through judgments. It is like buying a one-way ticket to eternity. Reservations are still open even until boarding time. Even during last call, we are still allowed to board. The choice here is to board or not to board. Once the door is shut, no more 2nd chances. There's only righteous judgments from Holy God. Don't be left behind. Make your choice now!
